This is a three-stone lot of watermelon tourmalines, also called bi-color or multi-color tourmalines. These stones carry significant inclusions and internal fractures, but also display the characteristic zoning of multiple colors within a single stone - pink and green together in one cabochon.

Watermelon tourmaline gets its name from the concentric color zoning that occurs when different trace elements are present during crystal growth at different stages - typically a pink or red core transitioning to a green rim, or the reverse. That zoning is a natural record of changing conditions in the pegmatite environment, and no two stones zone in exactly the same way, which is part of what draws designers to them. Tourmaline has no cleavage, but stones with significant fractures like these should be set with care and kept away from ultrasonic cleaners, which can extend existing fractures.
