Peruvian opal is one of the few opals valued not for play-of-color but for its body color alone - a calm, pastel blue-green that comes from trace amounts of copper in the host rock, and which has an almost translucent, waxy quality that photographs beautifully and pairs naturally with silver and cool-toned metals.
