Oregon sunstone is a labradorite feldspar found in the high desert of southeastern Oregon, and it's one of the few gemstones native to the United States with genuine collector and designer interest. What sets it apart is schiller - a metallic adularescent shimmer caused by copper platelets suspended within the crystal - which varies in intensity from stone to stone and gives each one a distinct personality. Feldspar has two directions of perfect cleavage, so it warrants care during setting and should be kept away from ultrasonic cleaners.
