Oregon Sunstone is the only feldspar in the sunstone family that owes its schiller to native copper platelets rather than hematite or goethite, which gives it a warm, metallic flash that reads differently depending on the light angle - a quality that rewards thoughtful setting orientation. Oregon material is also notable for its range of saturation and its dichroism, which can shift the apparent color depending on the viewing direction, making cut and setting choice meaningful design decisions. Feldspar has perfect cleavage in two directions, so it warrants care during setting and should be kept away from ultrasonic cleaners.
