Oregon Sunstone is a transparent feldspar - specifically labradorite - found in Harney County, Oregon, and is one of the few gem feldspars native to the United States; the copper inclusions responsible for its schiller are unique among sunstones worldwide, and the phenomenon can range from a soft metallic shimmer to bold, directional flash depending on how the stone is cut and oriented. Designers are drawn to it for that interplay of warm body color and moving light, which makes it particularly effective in drop and pendant settings where the stone can catch light from multiple angles. Feldspar has perfect cleavage in two directions, so take care during setting and avoid ultrasonics.
