Oregon Sunstone is the only feldspar deposit in the world where stones are found naturally occurring in a basalt flow without hydrothermal alteration, which gives them a character distinct from other plagioclase feldspars - including the copper inclusions responsible for the aventurescence seen in stronger specimens. The pale yellow and clear material like this is prized for its transparency and subtle warmth, and because Oregon Sunstone is domestic and fully traceable, it carries real appeal for designers working with provenance-conscious clients. Feldspar has perfect cleavage in two directions, so take care with setting pressure and avoid ultrasonics.
