Confetti Chalcedony is a material from Indonesia where translucent to clear chalcedony hosts pockets and splashes of other minerals - in this case Chrysocolla, Malachite, and Native Copper - creating a natural mosaic effect that is difficult to replicate in any other material. Chalcedony itself is a microcrystalline quartz with a waxy to silky luster and no cleavage, which makes it a reliable cabochon material that cuts and sets without the fragility concerns you encounter with some included stones. Designers are drawn to it because the inclusions are the point - each stone is compositionally unique, and the copper-bearing minerals tend to hold their color well in finished pieces.
