Peridot is one of the few gemstones that occurs in only a single color — green — due to its iron content rather than trace impurities. It is gem-quality olivine, a mineral that forms deep in the earth's mantle and reaches the surface through volcanic activity. Arizona peridot, much of it sourced from the San Carlos Apache Reservation, is prized by gemologists for its depth of color and strong saturation. Argentium silver is a modern alloy developed in the UK in the 1990s. Its higher silver content and germanium addition make it more resistant to firescale and tarnish than standard sterling, and its bright white tone complements vivid colored stones without competing with them.
