Oregon Sunstone is a gem-quality labradorite feldspar notable for its range of color - from pale champagne and peach through salmon and deep red - and for the copper-platelet inclusions that produce the adularescent shimmer known as schiller, though not all stones carry it. Stones from Oregon's Dust Devil and Pana mines are entirely natural and untreated, which is uncommon among colored gemstones and a genuine selling point for designers and their clients. Feldspar cleaves in two directions, so setting and any bench work should be approached with care - avoid ultrasonics and hard knocks during fabrication.
