The clear base on this Oregon Sunstone lets the schiller do exactly what you want it to - float as a luminous, dreamy sheen suspended inside the stone rather than sitting on the surface, and the peach schiller here is intense enough to stop you mid-reach. The color reads as yellow and peach, and the rose cut oval is a smart choice for a phenomenon like this, keeping the profile low while giving that schiller room to move across the dome. This stone is from the Ponderosa mine in Oregon.
Oregon Sunstone is the only commercially significant feldspar deposit in the United States, and the schiller that defines the finer material comes from oriented copper platelets within the stone - a feature unique to this deposit and not found in feldspars from elsewhere in the world. That origin specificity matters to designers because it carries a genuine provenance story, and the phenomenon itself - called aventurescence - shifts and catches light in a way that responds to movement in a finished piece. Feldspar has two directions of perfect cleavage, so set it with care and avoid ultrasonics.
This stone is untreated. The color and the schiller are entirely natural, exactly as they came out of the Oregon ground.
