Oregon sunstone is one of the few gem feldspars native to the United States, and the Ponderosa Mine is among the most respected sources for material with natural copper-driven schiller - a glittery, sub-surface play of light that shifts as the stone moves. The color range in Oregon material runs from pale champagne through peach and into deep red, with schiller intensity varying stone to stone, which gives designers real latitude in how they use it. Feldspar has perfect cleavage in two directions, so it warrants care during setting and should be kept away from ultrasonic cleaners.
