Collection: Arizona Garnets

Anthill garnets, also known as Native Sunset garnets, have a fascinating origin rooted in the deserts of Arizona, USA. The tiny rough gems are brought to the earth's surface by ants during the construction of their anthills. Hence the name - Anthill garnets.

Primarily found on Native American lands in Arizona's Four Corners region, these garnets are handpicked around the anthills by local collectors. The original and most common variety discovered was the Pyrope variety of garnet, known for its deep, dark red hue.  Other garnets found are Magnese variety garnets, which are also called Native Sunset garnets.  These garnets display lovely red, purple, orange and pink hues.

Anthill garnets are generally small, with stones larger than 3mm considered rare and more valuable.  These stones often contain visible inclusions.

Despite garnets being common worldwide, Anthill garnets stand out for their unique source and natural story, making them a cherished find for gem enthusiasts everywhere.
